Reimagining Service seeks to lead an open dialogue and exchange that elevates the practice of volunteerism in America. To jump start this effort, a Task Force of national leaders published this report about the call to service in America and the need for nonprofits to work hard to revolutionize their strategies. In their research Reimagining Service has created standards for Social Service Enterprises, a nonprofit or for-profit organization that fundamentally leverages volunteers and their skills to successfully deliver on the social mission of the organization. The New Volunteer Workforce
Nonprofits rely heavily on volunteers, but many organizations are still mismanaging volunteers. As a result more than one-third of those who volunteer one year do not donate their time the next year to any nonprofit. To remedy this situation, nonprofit leaders are developing strategic approaches to managing a new wave of volunteer talent.
