The Board Match is an opportunity for your executive director, board president and staff to talk with hundreds of prospective board members in one place. More than 800 candidates attended The Board Match in 2011--and we're on target for another record-breaking event this year.
The Board Match is much more than just another tabling event. The Volunteer Center vets each nonprofit application, provides training for your leadership about board recruitment and retention, and provides a pool of high quality and diverse candidates that have access to training and resources from The Volunteer Center regarding board member roles and responsibilities.
The application process is designed to make sure that a diverse range of participating agencies will have a successful experience matching with a pool of candidates with varied interests and experience. To get an idea of the kinds of candidates that attend The Board Match, click here for a list.
We will be adding nonprofits to The Board Match roster on a rolling basis and wait-listing organizations that we need more information from or that fall into an overpopulated category of service, size, county, etc. Please read the requirements and process for application and complete your application today.
Timeline and Fee Schedule
The final application deadline has been extended to January 24, 2012. We will be announcing both accepted and wait-listed organizations on a weekly rolling basis through January 24, 2012.
Fees* for The Board Match are assessed on a sliding scale based on your 501(c)3’s operational budget.
Early-bird Special: Available for applications completed by December 9, 2011 (all parts of the application process as outlined above must be complete to qualify).
$175: Level 1, budget under $400k
$200: Level 2, budget $400k - $999k
$250: Level 3, budget $1 mil - $3 mil
$325: Level 4, budget over $3 mil
*20% discount provided to current Nonprofit Volunteer Leaders Council (NVLC) members
Regular fee schedule: December 10, 2011 - January 24, 2012
$225: Level 1, budget under $400k
$250: Level 2, budget $400k - $999k
$300: Level 3, budget $1 mil - $3 mil
$375: Level 4, budget over $3 mil
Requirements and Process
The requirements below are in place to ensure that every participating organization and board candidate has the best possible experience. The Volunteer Center board and staff thank you in advance for working with us to keep the application process as streamlined as possible!
Please read this section carefully. All of the requirements outlined below must be met:
- Must be a legal 501(c)3 nonprofit or have a fiscal sponsor/agent for your program.
- Executive leadership of the organization (e.g. Executive Director, Board President, other board members) is required to attend to meet potential candidates.
- The application deadline will be posted when the application process has opened.
- Only complete applications including updated Board Match Plus Profiles will be reviewed.
- A complete application includes:
The review and vetting process includes:- Examination of all submitted information for completeness and content.
- A possible phone interview to answer questions that arise from the Board Match Plus Profile content.
- Comparison to other applicants for diversity in service area, location, size, and culture.
- Additionally, all aspects of past participation in The Board Match event by your organization are taken into account during the review and vetting process
